Catching Up Your Scrapbooking

If you feel like you are so far behind on scrapbooking that there is no sense even trying to catch up, hopefully this will blog will inspire you.

There are some people that never move forward when they feel they are facing an impossible task. That’s because we tend to look at the big picture instead of the smaller pieces.

If you were to put together a 1,000 piece puzzle you might feel overwhelmed when you consider the puzzle in its entirety. However, if you put the focus on doing just one piece of the puzzle at a time you will soon find progress being made.

Look at your scrapbooking as something that needs to be done one piece at a time. So where do you begin?

It starts with organization. You won’t be able to do anything if you aren’t organized. So start with your photographs and get them organized.

Depending on how far behind you are, you may need to use file folders or envelopes to separate and arrange your pictures. Label the folders or envelopes with the year, your child’s age or whatever system works best for you. If you have pictures still on your computer, get them printed off and organize them.

Don’t move onto the next step until you have all of your pictures completely organized. Once they are, put them away and begin organizing your scrapbook supplies. This is important because this will help you figure out what you may need when you finally do get to scrapbooking.

Once you have all of your supplies and tools organized, be sure to purchase any additional items you need. Then you will be ready to start your next album.

While it may seem like the best way to start is with the oldest pictures, start with the newest ones and work backwards. It feels less overwhelming this way. You are also able to recall your most current memories best so before you lose them, begin there.

You might want to set a goal or a schedule for catching up your scrapbooking. Depending on how many albums you need to put together, you can divide them up. For instance, let’s say you are behind six albums. Your goal might be that every-other-month you complete one album. Or every weekend you work on one, whatever works best for you.

Catching up your scrapbooking can be done and it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming if you take it one step at a time.
