After weeks of speculation singer Gwen Stefani has confirmed she is expecting another baby with her rock star husband Gavin Rossdale.
Actually, Stefani hasn’t said a word about her pregnancy, but relentless reporters were finally able to extract the news from Rossdale’s father and the celebrity baby bump watch began.
Britain’s “The Sun” is reporting that the singer is 13 weeks pregnant and is due in late July or early August.
Stefani and Rossdale already have a son, Kingston Rossdale, who turns two in May.
The 38-year-old blonde songstress has made no secret that she wanted to add to her family, but noted that she wanted to wait until she had wrapped up her concert tour before getting pregnant again.
Stefani and British-born Rossdale have been married since 2002.
SURGERY
CBS News’ Mike Wallace remains hospitalized today. According to execs at the eye network, the veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent is recovering from triple heart bypass surgery that was performed late last week.
Doctors say the 90-year-old newsman’s surgery to bypass blockage near his heart was “a great success and added that Wallace should recover “nicely.”
RETIREMENT
The PR Department at CBS was working overtime today as they also issued a release on veteran CBS’ Washington reporter Bob Schieffer. According to network brass, the “Face the Nation” anchor (he has held that post since 1991) plans to step down from the Sunday morning political talk show as soon as a new president is inaugurated.
Schieffer, who turns 71 next month, said the start of a new administration next January provides a natural transition for his retirement.
The cancer survivor had once planned to step away from the news desk when he turned 70, but his boss convinced him to spend 18 months filling in as “CBS Evening News” anchor between the exit of Dan Rather and entrance of Katie Couric.
But don’t expect Schieffer to quit the news biz cold turkey. The self-professed political news junkie said he hoped to keep an office at CBS and contribute occasionally, the way Tom Brokaw has at NBC News with documentaries.
