Celeb Updates: Tori Wants Work and Jessica Wants to Marry

Now that Jennie Garth has signed up to return to her old stomping grounds, fellow “Beverly Hills, 90210” original cast member Tori Spelling is vigorously lobbying to return to the zip code that made her famous as well.

According to reports, Spelling is currently in heated negotiations with producers of the CW’s new “Beverly Hills, 90210.” Insiders say the 35-year-old actress wants desperately to reprise her role as Donna Martin, especially now that her pal Garth has sealed the deal to guest star as a guidance counselor on the new show.

Yesterday Spelling told PEOPLE magazine: “Jennie is already on board for the series and we have been in touch about it. I would love to see our characters together again and get the chance to work with my friend again.”

What’s more, Spelling says that her inclusion in the new spin-off would make her deceased father extremely happy. Spelling’s dad, the late TV mogul Aaron Spelling was the one who created the original “90210.” And Tori claims it was her father’s wish to see the hit 1990s show make a comeback.

According the pregnant star, “It was always my dad’s dream and intention to make a new 90210 before he passed, so I know he is proud and he would be even more proud if I were a part of it.”

Whoa! I’ve heard of celebs coming up with unique lines to feed producers during auditions, but Spelling’s “My-dead-father-would-want-me-to-be-a-part-of-your-new-show” excuse might just take the cake.

While Spelling is focusing on her career (even though she is less than a month of away from giving birth to her new daughter) singer Jessica Simpson is making plans to marry.

In doing so the blonde bombshell puts to rest rumors that she and her NFL star boyfriend Tony Romo have split.

The rumor mill has been churning out reports that the two broke up last week while Romo was in Chicago for promotional duties and Simpson stayed back in L.A.

But yesterday Simpson insisted that she is still committed to her football boy toy and revealed that he just might be marriage material.

“I want to be married and have kids,” the singer turned actress told reporters. “I have a future ahead.”

Though don’t look for Simpson to rush down the aisle too soon. She says wants to make sure her second trip to the altar lasts forever after surviving a nasty split from her first husband Nick Lachey.
