I’m not one to keep up with celebrity gossip but it’s pretty hard to miss the latest trend to hit Hollywood: Motherhood! The cover of every gossip rag depicts a variety of stories but most have one thing in common – babies! She can’t get pregnant, she has recently adopted, she is carrying the love child of another celebrity, she just gave birth and looks great or she was caught mistreating her child; we just can’t seem to get enough of celebrity Mommy gossip!
So to feed the frenzy, here is the latest buzz:
Possibly Pregnant:
- Nicole Kidman
- Jennifer Lopez
- Lisa Kudrow
- Salma Hayek
Newly Pregnant:
- Katie Holmes/Tom Cruise – although some think this is a publicity stunt, Holmes is said to be pregnant with Cruise’s baby, due in March
- Donald Trump’s latest wife is due in March 2006
- Mariska Hargitay is due in April with a son
- Gwyneth Paltrow is due sometime this spring. Everyone is waiting on pins and needles to see what Apple’s new sibling will be named!
- Brooke Shields is pregnant with her second child, a girl, due in May 2006. After she outted her horrible Post-partum depression on Oprah last year, you can bet she will be closely watched for a replapse this go-round.
- Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt are expecting a baby in May.
- Gwen Stefani is due May 2006
- Matt Damon’s wife is pregnant with their first child together, a daughter due in June 2006
- Elizabeth Vargas is expecting a child late this summer
- Nadia Comaneci & Bart Conner expecting their first child, a son, due in July 2006. The baby, I am sure, will come out doing cartwheels!

- Melissa Joan Hart gave birth on Jan 11, 2006 to son, Mason.
- The Daily Show’s John Stewart and his wife welcome their second child, Maggie Rose Stewart born in Feb. 2006
Adopting/Recently Adopted:
- Emma Thompson recently adopted a 17 year old daughter from Rwanda.
- Angelina Jolie adopted 4 year old Maddox and one year old Zahara
Miscellaneous:
Brittany Spears was recently caught driving away with 4 month old son, Sean, sitting on her lap in the driver’s seat! The media went nuts over this one! But we have to give her props. When baby-daddy, Federline, took off with little Sean to take him to get his ears pierced, mama Brittany intervened like a mama-possessed and put a stop to it.
So that is just a tip of the gossip iceberg! For whatever reason, we continue to be obsessed with what car seat Brittany Spears owns, how big Katie Holmes’ “bump” is at any given moment and sneaking the first peak at each new bundle of joy. It’s crazy but we love it!
