Stewart Heads To Iraq
Jon Stewart has a running gag on his “Daily Show,” which features phony news reports from war-torn Iraq. Now, word has it the Comedy Central star is headed there himself.
That is a RUMOR.
However, starting next week the show will air “remotes” from Iraq during a special series dubbed “Operation Silent Thunder: ‘The Daily Show’ in Iraq.” While Stewart remained in the comfy confines of a TV studio, Senior War Correspondent Rob Riggle actually flew to Iraq. The network is calling Riggle’s reports “in-depth coverage and insights from the front lines.” His reports begin airing on Monday.
Riggle is a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and he served in Liberia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. According to show producers, while in Iraq, Riggle performed for U.S. troops with fellow comedians Horatio Sanz, Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer as part of an entertainment tour titled “Operation Feel the Heat.”
Ryan and Jake Duke It Out
I wouldn’t call Ryan Phillippe and his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon’s off-again, on-again boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal pals, but they haven’t actually exchanged blows—yet.
It’s a RUMOR (for now anyway), though that is subject to change given the status of their relationship. According to Us Weekly, Phillippe wants Gyllenhaal out of the picture. A source close to Phillippe told the magazine he doesn’t want the “Brokeback Mountain” star around his children. (Whitherspoon and Phillippe have two children, son Deacon, 3 and daughter Ava, 7.)
According to a source close to Whitherspoon, the actress doesn’t typically exposure her children to her relationship with Gyllenhaal. The source goes on to say, “Reese doesn’t have Jake spend the night when the kids are around–ever.”
Whitherspoon’s friends say Phillippe is simply jealous that his ex is moving on. Of course, that’s not to say that the actor isn’t “moving on” himself. According to Us, Phillippe is still seeing Aussie actress Abbie Cornish. The same woman many say is responsible for the couple’s divorce. Phillippe was reportedly seeing his “Stop Loss” costar at the time of his split from Witherspoon last October (Phillippe denied the relationship). Recently, the pair was photographed strolling through an L.A. park “laughing” and “enjoying themselves.”
