Celebrity Relationships and Marriages

Do we ever get enough of celebrities? Their characters make us laugh, cry, love them, hate them, but sometimes it seems as if we can’t enough of their real lives either. Sometimes, I have to wonder if it’s all on us, or if they don’t do their best to keep all the crazy publicity flowing.

You have probably heard that Britney Spears and husband Kevin Federline are ending their marriage. You may have also heard rumors of blackmail and extortion against Spears by the father of her children. Was this just a publicity stunt by the would-be rapper who has dubbed himself “K-Fed,” or is there some truth to all of this?

Whispers claimed Federline had a video tape of intimate moments with his wife that would be released if his demand for 50 million dollars were not met. If true, such an act would not only be tasteless, and as damaging to his reputation as his soon to be ex’s –not to mention illegal- but it would also be an awful thing to do to his children.

Let’s hope that recent comments by Federline’s representatives are true and that the entire thing has been “exaggerated.” For the sake of the children, I hope these two can resolve the situation as amicably as possible.

On a Lighter Note…

I find it interesting, humorous really, how celebrity relationships often end up with nicknames. Ben Affleck, who was once inseparable from Jennifer Lopez and now married to Jennifer Garner, may never live down cutesy catchphrases like Ben/Jen or “Bennifer.” When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got together, we got “Brangelina,” and the latest is “TomKat” for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who were recently married in what is being called THE celebrity wedding.

The nicknames are admittedly rather cute, but I still can’t imagine my private life and my marriage, being open for public discussion, debate, predictions, and ridicule.
