Challenge Yourself!

Recently, I blogged about getting more interactive with your traditional scrapbook pages by sharing them online in my article, Is Scrapbooking A Spectator Sport?. However, you might not feel quite comfortable putting yourself out there just yet, so try challenging yourself in your scrapbooking by creating your own at home challenges.

What do I mean by a challenge? If you are staring at a blank page, give yourself a challenge to try something you’ve never done before. Here are a few ideas I found for current challenges that are happening right now online! You can easily try these at home by yourself!

*Ribbon Challenge- Challenge yourself to use 10 different ribbons on one layout.

*Ugly Paper Challenge- Pick that paper from your stack that you don’t like all that much, and add it somewhere in your next layout.

*Scrap Your Pet Challenge- Do a scrapbooking page featuring your favorite furry friend. (Animals only, please!)

*Color Challenge- Each week, try to think up a new color combo that you’ve never tried, and use paper in those colors.

*No Paper Challenge- Do a layout using no paper at all! This is a great way to get truly creative. Doodling will most likely be required!

*Use Your Scraps- Try doing a layout that is strictly out of all of your scraps, using only papers that haven’t previously been cut by those trusty scissors of yours.

There are hundreds of ways to challenge yourself in your scrabooking. Not only does challenging yourself get your creative juices flowing, but it also will help you get inspired to scrap that photo that you just have no idea how to get scrapped. It can help you think outside the box and you will find yourself trying something you’ve never tried before.

In the world of scrapbooking, there are always new ideas, and challenging yourself will help your scrapbook pages feel new and different and get you out of that scrapbooking rut!
