Chicken Run

My aunt and uncle run a farm and as a child I used to always like to go to the farm and look at the chickens. I can remember spending countless hours thinking about what it would be like to spend your day in a chicken coup, and coming up with scenarios for the chickens. In my mind the chickens talked and would plan out their day just as humans do.

In the movie “Chicken Run” the chickens are trying to break free from their captivity at the farm before they become dinner. The movie is set on a farm in the late 1950’s, and is absolutely hilarious. In the movie Rocky the rooster and his chicken friend Ginger devise a plot to escape their captivity and find poultry freedom away from the farm. Chicken Run was made by the same producers who do Wallace and Gromit, and is done somewhat in the same style as Wallace and Gromit.

For children who often fanaticize about talking animals then this is a good one. The set is done rather realistically, so while the movie is animated you can really get a feel for what the farm might have been like if the movie was live action instead. The movie isn’t your typical animated film, but still brings in the laughs and a good deal of entertainment.

The DVD has fun special features like a read-along, as well as two “Making Of “ Documentaries one done by HBO, the other by NBC.

If you haven’t seen Chicken Run this is defiantly a movie to put on your Net flicks list or pick up the next time your out renting videos with you children.

Chicken Run is an hour and twenty three minutes long and is rated G. Chicken Run is available for rent and you can purchase it where ever DVDs are sold, or online at Amazon.com.
