Clutter Control Freak Part 1

You would think that as much as I write about clutter and organizing that my house would be perfect. No clutter anywhere, a place for everything and everything in it’s place, but sadly, that’s not the case. Human beings live in my home so things do always make it back to where they should be.

I do, however, strongly dislike clutter. It makes me nuts. I think part of it is because I’m a control freak and since there are so many things I can’t control, the clutter in my house needs to be controlled. I have a friend who will laugh as soon as she see’s me getting stressed because she knows I’m going to go home and “purge.” That’s what she calls it, I call it getting rid of the junk in my life.

I can’t stand to have things in my house that are not useful and serving a purpose so, yes, I purge, a lot. I won’t buy something that I may need one day, even at a great price, if I can’t use it now I’m not going to buy it. The friend I mentioned above once found a great deal on a beautiful armoire for my bathroom. It was part of the plan for that room, but not until everything else was done. We argued, she wanted me to buy it and store it until the bathroom was done, but just the thought of having a useless piece of furniture in my house made my hair fall out. Needless to say, I didn’t buy it.

As part of my regular cleaning I always fill a bag to donate to the thrift store. I can’t help it. I don’t even shop a lot but there is always more stuff in my house than I need. When I decide I need to get rid of something it has to go now. I’m not one of those people who can sell it online. If I want something out of the house, it must leave now.

Just in case you are normal, and not like me, there are lots of websites to help you get rid of the clutter in your home, and some of them even allow you to do a good deed in the process. To help you get rid of your clutter, tomorrow I will have a list of places and websites that will help.
