Comfort Over Price

While I am all for keeping an orderly, clean and organized home, I think it’s important that we also consider comfort. I could never forego comfort in an effort to have the “ideal” home or even to save money.

Fellow blogger Carol Paxman recently wrote about having a good night’s sleep and how she makes that happen by having a comfortable mattress. I can attest to the importance of this.

For many years, my husband and I slept on a mattress that my grandmother gave me. When we were first married there wasn’t a lot of money, so anything we could get for free, we jumped at.

But that also meant years of backaches and other forms of general discomfort. I hated crawling into my bed at the end of a long day…not a good thing.

Then about four years ago we finally got rid of that thing and purchased a Sleep Comfort bed. Comfort indeed!

It got me thinking about other areas of the home that need to be comfortable. Where do you spend most of your time gathering as a family? Is your furniture comfortable?

Part of enjoying a home is being able to escape the crazy world and relax. But you can’t relax if you aren’t comfortable.

This can apply to your bedding…is it scratchy or soft? One of the things I couldn’t live without is my down comforter. Since I like it be cool in my bedroom 365 days a year, this is necessary for snuggling.

What about your towels? I certainly appreciate spending less on household items but I don’t enjoy stepping out of the shower to dry off with a towel that leaves lint behind or feels like sandpaper.

I guess for me, some things are worth a little more if they bring me and my family comfort. What are some items in your home where comfort takes precedence over price?
