New Year’s Eve is right around the corner. Have you been thinking about capturing memories of your New Year’s Eve celebrations?
In our family we have the same tradition year after year. My husband splurges on a delicious home-cooked meal of lobster, steak and shrimp. We drink glass after glass of Welch’s Sparkling Grape Juice and play games together as a family. We typically end the evening watching several episodes of “The Three Stooges.”
While I always take pictures during Christmas celebrations, I hadn’t really considered doing that for New Year’s Eve. So this year I am going to start off 2011 with a bang. I am going to put together a fun New Year’s Eve scrapbook.
I had to do some research into the best type of album to create for a New Year’s Eve scrapbook. The consensus seems to be that black and white photos are perfect. I love black and white photos. One of my favorite pictures in my house is a huge black and white blowup of my children and their cousins sitting on a dock.
Now to make your scrapbook festive you can incorporate sparkles and glitter. Colors such as silver and gold are also great ways to accent your pages. Embellishments could be balloons, noise makers, confetti and party hats.
I was thinking of the photos that would make up my album. Pictures of my husband cooking up our favorite foods, the children indulging, our family playing games and a cozy picture of my family gathered on the couch watching “The Three Stooges.” These are simple memories but they are part of our family and ones that I want to capture.
Another great idea is to incorporate some journaling into your New Year’s Eve scrapbook. If you do New Year’s Resolutions, your family could write what theirs are inside the album. You could also set goals as a family for 2011. You could recapture your best and worst memories of 2010 and write them down.
Get creative and start off your New Year with a scrapbook that holds precious memories of times together.
