Not sure about anyone else, but in our house we go through toilet paper like it’s water. It’s absolutely crazy. I can walk into a bathroom at the end of the week to empty the trash can and there will be four empty toilet paper rolls in there! I won’t even ask what they are using it for, or better yet, how much they are using of it. That part seems to be obvious. Of course, we have five children who essentially share one bathroom, so there’s bound to be a lot used anyway.
So what can you do with all those toilet paper rolls? Many people actually recycle them, but I’ve heard of some recycling plants that will not take them. So it’s time to find some new uses for this wonderful commodity that we seem to acquire each week!
Chew Toys
No, not for the kids. But for small rodents, toilet paper tubes are a wonderful chew toy. I used to have two guinea pigs and I remember giving them one a week. Hamsters love them because typically they can fit inside.
Fire Starter
You can either fill them with old napkins, tissues, or any paper trash, or leave them empty. Use them as fire starters at a camping trip, or in a charcoal grill. They work great and keep the flame going.
Gift Wrap
A unique and fun shape, they can hold small presents like socks or underwear, pencils, pens, crayons, etc. Anything tiny enough to fit inside, will work great!
Kids Crafts
I think this is just a known fact. Kids love to create and toilet paper roll tubes are perfect! You can make all types of cool crafts, just do a google search for toilet paper crafts and you’ll find them!
Art Organizer
If you affix two or three together, even add a paper towel roll or two, you can create a very modern, almost eclectic looking art organizer. You can store rulers, pens, pencils, and crayons.
Eye Glass Holder
Cover the tube with wrapping paper or something else really pretty and store your sunglasses, or eye glasses inside. You can either keep them at the house, take them in the car or drop them in your purse. It’s a handy way to keep your glasses safe.
