Cruise Ships Cabins—Whose Is Best? Part 2

In my previous blog I discussed which cruise lines offered the most bang for your buck when it came to standard inside cabins.

In this blog I will detail which cruise lines consistently provide the best cabin amenities—-standard or otherwise.

BEDS

Cruise experts agree that when it comes to beds Oceania is the hands down winner. The company offers guests Tranquility Beds, which feature Euro Top mattresses, plush duvets, goose-down pillows, and Egyptian cotton linens. And Oceania executives aren’t shy about tooting their own horn. They claim to lead the pack when it comes to upgrading bedding. If you are cruising on a budget, but refuse to sacrifice comfort experts recommend sticking with Carnival and its Carnival Comfort Bed.

BATHROOMS

The number one complaint among cruise line guests in regards to bathroom quality is the lack of proper lighting. Most cruise lines offer prefabricated units with little more than what is found in an airplane lavatory. According to cruise experts, Crystal Cruises excels where many other cruise lines fail. Crystal’s suites have separate tubs and multi-head massage showers, while others sport marble tiling and double vanities.

As for standard cabins, Norwegian Cruise Lines ranks the highest for having three-sectioned bathrooms with the sink area in the middle and separate toilet and shower sections on either side. Disney Cruise Line was also honored for its split bathrooms, which make it easier for several family members to get ready for bed at the same time.

CLOSETS

Regent Seven Seas and Silversea get the prize for having walk-in closets. The large storage spaces include drawers, shelves, and places for shoes, as well as a hanging section. A more affordable option is Carnival, which earns high marks among cruise experts for its faux walk-in closets. The new storage spaces eliminate the inconvenience of not being able to exit the bathroom when someone else in your party leaves the closet door open.

The bottom line—if you are looking for more space in your private onboard sanctuary you are going to have to pay for it.
