Customized Christmas Gifts

Do you get into wrapping perfect presents? Does every crease have to be just so, every corner precisely folded, and does the ribbon have to match the color of the wrapping paper perfectly? If you get as excited by the presentation as you do by the present itself, check out some of these custom ideas:

Custom Gift Tags

If you scrapbook, you probably already have lots of tools that can help you make terrific custom gift tags. Simply using scissors that create a decorative edge can help you transform many different types of materials into great tags. If you like things to match, gather some leftover wrapping paper after you have wrapped a gift. Glue two small pieces together, back to back. Cut around each edges with scrapbooking scissors. Print “to” and “from” on heavy paper or cardstock. Cut the printed cardstock smaller than the wrapping paper and glue them to the center.

For a fancier design, start with cardstock. Cut a smaller piece of colored foil paper that coordinates with your gift-wrap and glue it the center so the cardstock shows around the edges. Next, cut a smaller piece of gift-wrap and do the same. Finish by adding a printed piece of cardstock with “to” and “from” in the center. This looks great on larger packages.

*Punch a hole in one end and thread coordinating ribbon through the hole if desired.

Custom Bows

Cut strips of matching or contrasting wrapping paper about 6” long and about 1.5” wide. Fold the strips into thirds so rough edges won’t show. Make each strip into a loop and staple the ends to a piece of cardstock covered in wrapping paper. Continue adding loops until you have a nice full bow that matches your package.

Make your own package decorations using shimmering ribbon. Just curl several pieces of pretty ribbon, stapling one end of each piece to a base made from cardstock or cardboard.
