Dad’s Day Done Right

left

Once Father’s Day 2012 is history you can relive the fun and excitement by crafting a memory book featuring Dad’s gifts and photos taken during the celebrations.

If you haven’t already gotten Dad a present, you could make him this scrapbook-worthy gift that can be easily displayed on a fantastic layout:

SILHOUETTE

Materials:

Photo of your child’s profile

Scissors

Black construction paper

Pencil

Card stock

Glue

Directions: Cut-out any part of the photo that does not include your child’s face. You will be left with an outline. Place the photo on a piece of black construction paper and have your child trace the shape of his face onto the paper. Trim the paper to create a black silhouette of your child’s face. Glue the silhouette on a piece of card stock and add it to the scrapbook page.

Another simple idea to display in a Father’s Day scrapbook spread is a homemade card. Have your kids’ masterpieces take center stage on a layout, and then embellish the page design with stickers, stamps, and die cuts that fit with the Dad’s Day theme. If your children added chore coupons as gifts, add them to the layout as well. To make the coupons extra eye-popping, have the kids design them on the computer. They can use fancy fonts and different colored ink to present Dad with help taking out the garbage, cleaning the garage, mowing the grass, washing the dishes or folding the laundry.

Depending on how many children you have and how many gifts Dad collects on Father’s Day, you may consider crafting a series of individual layouts to showcase all of Pop’s loot. To spice up the gift pages, mat photos of Dad opening his presents on patterned paper. If you know Dad’s favorite colors highlight them in background paper for an extra-special touch. However, be careful not to make the design too busy. If you are worried the layout is too chaotic, convert your photos to black and white and you’ll be able to use a variety of colors to create your layout.
