Dancing Toddlers

My son loves to dance. Is this just a natural interest for toddlers? Do all toddlers love music and dance? I’ve been thinking about enrolling my son in some sort of toddler dance class. He is interested in all kinds of music and dances to anything.

I’ve been reading up on toddler dance classes and looking for something to get him enrolled in. I found that they offer “Tiptoes & Tumbling” classes, which are designed to encourage creativity, coordination, skills, musicality and rhythm.

Another class I found is “Pre-School Tap, Ballet & Tumbling” for ages 3 to 5. At another studio, I found “Tap, Ballet & Acrobats” for ages 2 to 5. I don’t know which class would be best for my son. I also don’t know if it would be good to enroll him. He would probably be the only boy in the class. The website makes it appear as though it is geared towards girls.

I hate not to enroll him in some sort of class because I want to support his interest in music. I will gladly enroll him in music lessons later on when he can ask for them. I want him to pursue his interest in music. My entire family plays music and I feel like he probably will too.

My son has a couple of plastic microphones and he sings into them whenever any song comes on. He was in our local “Old Navy” store the other day and they had “Rock Band” set up in there. He grabbed the microphone and started singing. It was too cute.

For his birthday, my son received a car that dances. Everything around here has to dance whenever music is playing. He has a plush cat that he makes dance because the real cat doesn’t cooperate. He tried making the cat dance but the cat ran off as soon as my son let go of him. He had to settle for the plush cat after that.

I think we own every toy drum, keyboard and guitar made for toddlers. My son will pick out an instrument in the store if he is told he can choose a toy to purchase. We found a couple at a yard sale and I got those for him. He received a few as gifts. He has played with all of them.

I’m reminded of the home video clips I’ve seen of other toddlers dancing and I wonder if it is all kids that love to dance this much or if my son is just really interested in music and dance. I would love to have feedback about dance classes for toddlers.
