Deals on Video Games – Weekend of December 9, 2011

Gamestop For some unknown reason, it seems like all the stores that sell video games have decided to have a sale this weekend. If you are looking for a gift for the gamer in your life, now might be the most economical time to do it. Just make sure you know what game your loved one would like, and what system that game goes with.

Gamestop is having what sounds like an absolutely crazy deal this weekend. Buy two video games, and get a third game for FREE. This includes all their in-stock, pre-owned, video games. You can find games for XBOX 360, PS3, 3DS, and Wii.

Many of these games are under $20.00, and some are under $10.00. I’m not sure how Gamestop can make a profit from selling used games for lower than the usual price, and by giving one away for free. Perhaps the company is trying to make up for the bad karma they generated earlier this year when they removed a coupon from inside a game, and then sold the game anyway, without letting customers know that they took out the coupon.

Best Buy has a similar sale going on. Buy two video games at Best Buy, and get a third video game for free. Unlike Gamestop, Best Buy is including select new games as well as pre-owned titles in this sale. You can mix and match games from any of these systems: XBOX 360, PS3, PSP, Wii, 3DS, DS, or games designed to be played on PC computers.

The two games you buy must be priced $29.99 or more. You will get a third game of equal or lesser value for FREE.

Amazon.com has a “Holiday Flurry Deal” that is only good today, December 9, 2011. You can save up to 40% off select family video games. This includes games for the Wii, (and Wii accessories), Nintendo DS, (and DS accessories, Nintendo 3DS, XBOX 360, (and Xbox 360 accessories), and it even includes some games for Mac or PC computers. Again, this deal only lasts through today.

Target has an online only offer that will save you $35.00 on Mario Kart 3DS Bundles. Target is also offering a $50.00 Gift Card when you buy a 250GB Kinect bundle. If you are shopping from the Target store, you can use a coupon that will give you a FREE $10.00 Target Gift Card with the purchase of $50.00 or more of anything from Target.

Walmart has a “Holiday Rollback” sale that will save you $20.00 on “top games”. This sale includes video games for XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS/DSi, and Nintendo 3DS.
