Decorate for Fourth of July

Have you seen all the great Independence day decorations, including festive flags that light up and beautiful red, white, and blue swags and festoons? There are some very tasteful decorations available and these are my favorites. I like some of the festive touches too, such as strings of red, white, and blue lights, but I prefer the more stately elements, as I find them more befitting the occasion.

We do have something to celebrate, since we are blessed to live in the greatest country in the world. We should decorate, celebrate, and participate. While my children and I always make sure to wear red, white, and blue on Independence Day and hang up our God Bless America Sign, we are not always home during this time of celebration to decorate. This year we will be, and I can’t wait to show my spirit.

How will you decorate? If you’re looking for some ideas, consider these:

Table Dressing

Cover the table with a red tablecloth and place a smaller blue one on top, diagonally, with the corners overhanging the ends and sides. Add a centerpiece or Spirited Candleholders in Kids’ Crafts. If dining outdoors and using paper products, try some of the ideas in Set a Festive Fourth of July Table, in Frugal Living.

Lighting

If you can’t find Fourth of July lights that you like, consider using strings of white Christmas lights or lighting lots of candles. Line up simple votive holders or cans filled with tea candles or votives and line your patio or driveway with them.

Fly your Flag

Simply displaying your flag is one of the best ways to decorate your home for Fourth of July. If you have more than one, use them all. Make it a theme and add several different sizes and styles of flags all around your home and yard.
