Diary of a Cat Care B&B: A Happy Ending

I’m very pleased to report a happy ending for our three homeless kitties at the cats only boarding facility.

You may remember that they were involved that day that I got groomed — Ru, one of the three cats who became ours over the holidays, decided that my hair needed a good licking. Over the six weeks they were at the boarding facility, I got really attached to these cats.

A quick reminder of the players:

  • Ru: a short haired tortie cat with striking dark green eyes. Definitely the boss of the group.
  • Tiger: a big, goofy orange tabby with white splotches. Reminds me of my dog Moose — he’s big, lazy, and likes to be petted. Likes to play in his water bowl.
  • Kitten: a sweet grey tabby with white on her belly. Very shy at first, but really warmed up over time. She went from hiding in a laundry basket to jumping onto my lap for snuggles!
  • Aimee: a dog loving human with a soft spot for these poor cats. If I didn’t think it would have been too unsettling for Moose and Lally, I might have thought about taking these cats myself!

I guess I could call this a “two-thirds” happy ending. I’m absolutely thrilled to report that two of my coworkers are going to adopt two of the cats. Kitten is going to live with one of the vet techs and Tiger has already gone home with one of the boarding staff members.

I’m pleased (but slightly less than thrilled) to report that Ru has been handed over to a no-kill shelter in the area. I’m sure she’ll find a good home — but it would have been nice to have the trifecta, all three cats going home with office staff! If you live in the Portland, Oregon area, you might just see little Miss Ru at Animal Aid.
