This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson twelve in the manuals. Remember to keep the discussions upbeat and positive. This is an opportunity to reinforce the lessons learned at church each week. You may need to adjust if your ward is on a different schedule.
If you have a child in nursery or Sunbeams he learned about animals. The lesson touched briefly on the creation of animals. It also discussed the story of Noah saving the animals from the flood. The children also discussed the many blessings that animals provide for us. You may want to review the story of Noah and the Ark with your family.
If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about the gift of the Holy Ghost. The children learned what the Holy Ghost was. They also learned how the Holy Ghost can help them, and that they can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost after they are baptized. You may also want to talk about living worthy to have the Holy Ghost be your constant companion.
If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about the parable of the house on the rock and the house on the sand. They discussed the importance of having a firm foundation and strong values to protect them from the storms of life. The assigned reading was Matthew 7:24-27.
If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about John Taylor. They learned about his life and conversion to the church. They discussed the experiences that helped to prepare him to become a prophet.
All members over the age fourteen learned about when Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath, as well as declared himself the Son of God. The lesson also discussed feeding the 5,000 and Peter walking on the water. The lesson also discussed Christ as the Bread of life. Next week’s reading is Matthew 15:21-17:9.
The Young Women learned about father’s blessings. The Young Men learned about prayer. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were based on talks from General Conference. Next week is General Conference, but the week after that the lesson will be on lesson seven, “Personal Testimony,” in the Spencer W Kimball manual.
