Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 18

This week’s discussion is based on lesson seventeen for the Nursery and CTR children. For the senior Primary children and all adults the discussions are based on lesson eighteen. You will need to adjust the discussions to match the lessons discussed by your ward. Remember to have fun with these discussions.

If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned to be thankful for his hands. The lesson discussed the many things that hands can do. The lesson also told the story of Jesus blessing the children, so you may want to review it with your children. You can also talk about the blessings of your hands throughout the week.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about Nephi and his brothers returning to Jerusalem to obtain the Brass Plates. She learned that the scriptures help us to know the commandments. When we study the scriptures we can learn what is right. The scriptures are a gift from Heavenly Father. You may want to encourage your children to begin studying their scriptures.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and thirteen he learned about Jesus healing the blind man. The lesson discussed the Pharisees who questioned him after he was healed. The children learned about dealing with the trials in their lives. The assigned reading is John 9:1-38.

If you have child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about peer pressure. The lesson discussed situations when the children may feel peer pressure. It also discussed the importance of choosing good friends who will have a positive influence in their lives. The lesson then discussed the influence that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost can have on their lives.

For all members over the age fourteen the lesson focused on the worth of souls. The lesson discusses the parable of the lost sheep. The lesson then discusses the parable of the Prodigal Son. Finally the lesson discusses the man who was healed of leprosy returning to thank the Lord. Next week’s reading is Luke 18:1-8, 35-43; 19:1-10; and John 11.

The young women learned about righteous traditions. The young men learned about the duties of a teacher in the Aaronic priesthood. The Priesthood and Relief Society was on protecting yourself from evil influences (lesson ten in the Spencer W. Kimball manual). Next week’s lesson is based on talks from the last session of General Conference. You should ask a member of your presidency for the specific talks.
