Today, we were out shopping at Baby’s R Us for a lock for the lazy susan in our kitchen. Our entrepreneurial 17-month old figured out a way to get it open, by using his brute toddler strength to break it! As we contemplated the choices in safety at the store, I couldn’t help but notice how many pregnant ladies there were in the store. Okay, so it is a baby store, but the point was that the place was packed. I met a couple who were shopping for a cousin. They were debating the merits of tiny and perfect little outfits that cost quite a bit. They were debating whether to get two less expensive outfits or one more expensive one and asked my opinion. That is when I mentioned the Dipe and Wipe baby shower. They thought it was a great idea. So, let me share it with you! (I don’t know why I haven’t told you about it already!)
At a Dipe and Wipe baby shower, guests bring their gifts in the form of diapers and wipes. You can assign sizes to the guests if you like, or just not worry too much about it, since most stores will exchange sizes as long as the packages are not opened.
Outfits can be adorable, but the little one usually outgrows them in a matter of weeks or even days. Or the expensive outfits get ruined by spit up or diaper leaks.
Diapers and wipes are always needed by new parents, who go through more of them then they original expect to do. It eliminates the need for sleep-deprived parents to have to run out at the last minute when the little darling messes the next to last diaper, and the diapers and wipes take away some of the expense of having a new child.
