Disneyland versus Disney World

Which way do you go? When you live in the Midwest part of the country, California and Florida seem pretty equidistant. So the question becomes do you fly to Los Angeles or do you fly to Orlando? If the flight is about the same time (which it is for us) then how do you make your choice?

You make a pro and con list.

Yes, A Pro & Con List

So, let’s see – one pro of going to Los Angeles is the chance to see television and movie stars. There’s also the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Orlando has beaches, as well. Orlando also features a multitude of other amusement parks in the area from Busch Gardens to Sea World to Universal Studios.

You can see the original Universal Studios in the hills above Los Angeles and Hollywood. My mother used to work at the Sheraton in Universal City. Anaheim plays host to Disneyland, Walt’s first indulgence in creating the most magical place on Earth. Right next door, you can pay a call on Disney’s California Adventure.

In Orlando, you can see the Magic Kingdom, Disney-MGM, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Epcot. They are adding things all the time and ride for ride, show for show – Orlando does have a great deal more to offer than Anaheim. For off Disney property visits, you’re not that far from Sea World, Universal and more – in California, it’s going to take some driving to get to Universal Studios and even further to head south down the coast to San Diego.

Which Way to Go?

As much as I love Disneyland in California and I do love it, I’ve been there several times, most of those visits were paid when I lived in California or near to it. Living in Texas, halfway between both – my choice is for Orlando, again and again and again.

So if you have a choice and you’re equidistant to both – which do you choose? Disneyland or Disney World?
