We had quite an adventure this past weekend. Now that Molly’s room is almost finished, we just need to address the windows, or should I say “dress” the windows. We also have a closet door to dress as well. Here is what we have been doing and where we found a way to make custom curtains when I don’t yet sew.
Getting Molly’s room ready has been a long process that was frequently interrupted by other house projects that took priority, such as new flooring in the family room, felling trees in the yard, and fixing plumbing leaks.
We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. The plumbing through the access panel has been repaired, the walls have been scrubbed, patched and painted, the floor has been scrubbed and the furniture has been moved in to the room.
Molly wanted pink for the inner princess that she is, but we made it a little more sophisticated by creating a rose accent wall that will hopefully take her from preschooler to teen. She has a white toddler bed that will eventually be replaced by a twin bed, a wide six-drawer dresser in white, a bookcase in the shape of a dollhouse in white with a pink roof, and a small white wood table with a light green chair that balances perfectly with the pink.
We will probably bring in some more of that same green with bedding, perhaps a rug, and accessories. There is also some green in a few whimsical characters that I cut out from an advertisement for a children’s garden and affixed surrounding her light switch. The room looks great, but unfinished, since the windows are bare. The closet is also exposed. Previously, there were cheap hollow sliding wood doors that did not work well. We decided to “curtain” the closet for practical and aesthetic reasons.
