Easy Ways to Burn Calories

I’ve slacked off on the gym, so now I am looking for ways to burn calories. I can across this list of easy ways to burn 100 calories from Our Lady of Weigh Loss, Janice Taylor. These are things I could (and probably should be doing):

Vacuuming

This I can do! If you vacuum for just 25 minutes, you can burn 100 calories. Janice, however, lives in a New York City apartment that only takes 10 minutes to vacuum, so she volunteers to do her neighbor’s vacuuming as well. Who is going to turn that kind of offer down?

Drink Cold Water

We all know that drinking water is good for us, but cold water is said to boost your metabolism for 30 minutes. Janice theorizes that if you drink your eight glasses of water spaced throughout the day, you can burn 25 calories a glass.

Fidget

I love this one because I am one of the world’s worst at fidgeting, which in this case turns out to be a good thing. Stuck at your desk all day? Fidget by tapping your foot and wiggling in your seat. One hour of daily fidgeting can equal 100 calories burned.

Childcare

Another one most of us can do – easily! Just 30 minutes of chasing the kids around the house, cleaning up toys, and pushing a stroller can all lead up to 100 calories lost.

Work in the Yard

Don’t like vacuuming and would rather be outside? That works to for burning calories too. Raking your lawn for 30 minutes burns 100 calories.

Walking

Think you don’t have time to exercise? Just a 15 minute brisk walk will burn about 100 calories and the cardio has to be good for your heart.

Sex

That’s right – I said it. Well, actually Janice did. She pointed out that making love for one hour should burn close to 100 calories, depending as she puts it on your “level of enthusiasm.”
