Eating Healthy on the Go with Kids in Tow!

Summer is on the way and that means vacation and camping time for many families. As you drive along the highway to your destination the kids are certain to grow hungry. It is so easy to give into fast food or junk alternatives when convenience is necessary. However, we cannot discount the amount of sugar, fat, calories, and artificial ingredients consumed due to not planning ahead or not knowing of healthy alternatives to bring with you. With that in mind here are a few suggestions to help your family eat healthier on the road this year.
Road Friendly and Healthy Minded Snacks

Sandwiches: Using whole grain bread and low fat meat with veggies to make a filling sandwich for when hunger strikes.

Cold Cuts: Fill a container with low fat meat, veggies and fruit for instant snacking.

Hummus: Bring along a container of Hummus and mini pita bread for a quick snack everyone will enjoy.

Yogurt: Convenient packages of yogurt are a tasty way to keep hunger at bay.

Cheese Cubes or Sticks: Bring along low fat cheese cubes or string cheese for instant snacking.
