Effective Kitchen Organization Ideas

Organizing your kitchen can be a task that takes days. Inevitably, you will never seem to have enough space to hold all of your spoons and measuring cups. Pans rarely fit neatly under the kitchen cabinets and the trashcan will always feel out of place. However, if you take some simple steps towards organizing your kitchen, you will find that arranging items (and finding them when you need them) does not have to be as hard as it inherently seems. Here are some tips to help you along your way.

Drawer organizers
Drawer organizers are an amazing addition to any kitchen. You can purchase these organizers with individual slots, or you can purchase a unit with ready-made slots. Slots can have enough space for spoons, knives, forks and other daily-used items. You can also purchase unites with room for napkins, larger serving items and miscellaneous small items. Visit a local kitchen-decorating store for ideas or to purchase from a variety of drawer organizers to meet your needs.

Pot racks
Pot racks are an amazingly effective alternative to storing bulky and different-sized pots and pans underneath the kitchen cabinets. Pot racks can be mounted either to the wall or the ceiling. The will hold all of your pots, pans and other items with a hole for a hook. If you purchase a pot rack that goes on the ceiling of your kitchen, keep in mind that you will have to have space for it. Not only will the kitchen ceiling need to be tall, but the rack cannot hang down too low or you will not be able to access it. Pots and pans also tend to be heavy, so proceed with caution when hanging them high.

However, the other alternative to the ceiling rack is the wall rack. The wall racks generally come with a shelf on top of the rack, for you to stow your pan lids or other cooking items. These wall racks have as much space as a ceiling racks, but also tend to hit them wall when you hang pots up. Weigh your options and look at the variety available to you before settling on one rack over another.

Door systems
Door systems help to store extra food and small appliances, such as blenders. If you kitchen has either a kitchen door or a door another room in the house, then purchase a set or two of the door shelving systems. These systems are screwed neatly into the door itself. You can then store items such as soup cans in them. Because the shelves are small and have a bar to hold items in a the door swings open and shut, you will likely not be able to store too many items in them.
