Need a quick dinner to feed your family tonight, but don’t have a whole lot of cash to spend? Check out some of the current deals from El Pollo Loco. This restaurant chain specializes in flame grilled chicken. They have a few money saving deals going on right now that involve enough food to feed your family.
El Pollo Loco is Spanish, and the name translates to “The Crazy Chicken” in English. The restaurant was first founded in Guasave, Mexico, in 1975, but now has it’s headquarters in Costa Mesa, California. They have become a successful nationwide chain. They have more than 380 restaurants in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, New Jersey and Missouri.
When I think of “pollo”, it reminds me of the Arroz con Pollo dish that my mom used to make. She was, and still is, a teacher’s aide in a high school, and learned how to cook this meal when she was assisting in a home economics class. However, my mother is not a big fan of spicy foods, and doesn’t generally eat Mexican food, so her recipe has been adapted from the traditional form of Arroz con Pollo that one would expect upon hearing the words. She still called it “Arroz con Pollo”, though, for some reason.
The chicken at El Pollo Loco, on the other hand, is not bland at all. Their chicken is marinated in special herbs, spices, and citrus juices, before being flame grilled. They also have warm corn or flour tortillas, fresh salsa, and a variety of sides. You can go with Spanish rice or pinto beans, if you want to keep with the Mexican food theme. Or, you can get macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, fries, corn cobbettes, or fresh vegetables, if you prefer.
El Pollo Loco has a list of it’s current promotions on it’s website. Right now, you can get ten pieces of their famous chicken, (in the form of legs and thighs), for just $9.99. Thats plenty of chicken to feed your family with, for a very low price. This deal is for a limited time, but their website does not say exactly what day it will end. You do not need a coupon in order to take advantage of this deal.
They also have something called a Loco Cash Card. This is something brand new, that they started using in January of 2011. Go to El Pollo Loco between now, and March 27, 2011, and purchase a family meal or chicken only order of eight pieces or more, and you will get a $5.00 Loco Cash Card. You can use that card on your next visit to El Pollo Loco, with any 10, 12, or 14 piece family meal you purchase.
