Enough to Make a Whale Go Back to her Aquarium

Well, I went on a run this morning. A donut run! Pick your jaw up off the floor, we all make mistakes. Besides, my husband is working and my kids asked if we could get donuts this morning. Normally I would never entertain such a request but they got me at a weak moment. So, I get in my car and go on a donut run. I get a pretty sprinkle topped donut, a cinnamon roll, a glazed and a chocolate glazed for the kids. Me? I got a mega deluxe cream filled donut with a huge cup of coffee. Yes, the breakfast of champions! The roads were paved with guilt as I made this trip. Previously I made the commitment to give up on those evil round shaped houses of sugar. Who needs 20 grams of fat or more in one little sugar snack anyway? I think I have about a dozen or more extra donuts on my 5 foot frame.

So, in the midst of my drive back home on guilt paved streets, donut stuffed in my mouth, coffee in my car’s cup holder, I see something that made me choke on the cream center of my donut. I spot a runner! Yes, a runner! Not someone running because she is being chased by some knife bearing maniac but a real live runner. She even donned runner’s attire with her short Under Armor shorts and matching tank top. Suddenly I felt like some sea creature at Sea World! The fat on my body multiplied by tenfold…and I mean folds! The weight on my mind for not working out and the weight on my thighs was all too apparent. How dare that image of Miss Thing come into my view as I was trying to enjoy my 50 grams of fat and 1000 empty calories for the day! Isn’t it torture enough to see my skinny blonde neighbor with the wind in her shampoo ad hair on a daily basis

In a moment of Helen Reddy strength I emitted an “I AM WOMAN” roar as I decided to ENJOY MY DONUT and my COFFEE WITH FULL FAT CREAMER! Tomorrow, I’ll get back into my workout routine and greenie organic salad eating mentality. Okay, today right after breakfast I will go on a long walk with the kids and eat my usual healthy way the rest of the day. I will not allow one indulgence to defeat me and you should not either. We all have moments of weakness but let us not be defined by such moments.
