I love Halloween and all the treat you can make – you will have to forgive me!
Halloween Crisp Candy Corn Treats
For this recipe, you will need butter, crispy rice cereal, miniature marshmallows, candy corn, miniature chocolate chips, candy pumpkins, and orange food coloring.
Grease a jellyroll pan with butter. In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter and 9 cups of miniature marshmallows. Stir together until it is smooth. Combine 10 cups of crispy rice cereal, 2 cups of candy corn, and 3/4 cup of miniature chocolate chips in a large bowl. Add a couple of squirts of orange food coloring to the marshmallow mixture, then pour the marshmallow mixture into the crispy rice cereal bowl. Stir quickly to combine the ingredients.
Spread the mixture in the jellyroll pan and press down gently with buttered hands. Press a candy pumpkin every inch or so. Refrigerate to let cool then cut into pieces to serve.
Jack-O-Lantern Pie
For this recipe, you will need one package of orange Jello, a pint of vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookies, margarine, granulated sugar, candy corn, black licorice sticks, and whipped topping (optional).
To make the piecrust, crush enough Oreo cookies to make 1 1/2 cups. Combine that plus 1/4 cup of margarine, and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar in a bowl. Press it firmly into a 9” pie pan. Bring one cup of water to boil. Pour the packet of orange Jello into a bowl then add the boiling cup of water. Stir until the Jello is dissolved – this usually takes one or two minutes.
Add the pint of vanilla ice cream to the Jello and stir until smooth. Place the bowl in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. Pour the Jello mixture into the piecrust and place the pie pan in the refrigerator for two hours or until firm.
Use the candy corn and licorice to make a Jack-O-Lantern face on the pie. Top with whipped topping if desired when serving.
