It seems that the Hollywood elite have discovered the benefits of homeschooling. It was most recently reported that 7 year-old Maddox Jolie-Pitt has stopped attending school and gets regular visits from a tutor.
Considering the busy lives of stars it makes great sense to homeschool. It would be a shame in my opinion for parents to travel the world with their work and for kids to be tied to their home so they don’t miss a day of school.
The most celebrated homeschool mom is probably Lisa Whelchel who was a child actor who now homeschools her children. She was most likely inspired from the on-set education that she and other child actors received.
Other rich and famous people whose kids are homeschooled are:
Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia homeschool their daughter who is advanced in reading and math.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith homeschooled their children for several years and most recently started a private school that is suspected to be a cross between having homeschooling and Scientology principles. Regardless of the the methodology, both parents work and travel a great deal and having a flexible education is ideal.
John and Elizabeth Edwards homeschooling with the help of a hired teacher during John’s bid for the presidency.
Kelly Preston and John Travolta homeschooled their children, especially their special needs son who recently passed away.
Darrell Waltrip who is a NASCAR racer.
