Favorite Scrapbook Magazines (1)

Scrapbook and paper craft magazines can be a great resource for finding inspiration and new ideas for preserving your memories. I would like to share some of my favorite magazines with you so that you will be able to determine which magazine might be right for you.

Memory Makers. This was my first scrapbook magazine subscription. I have always generally enjoyed this magazine because of the interesting articles. They write features on people who have had scrapbooking change their lives and that is always interesting to read. The layouts are usually more advanced which I find fun to look at but not necessarily layouts that I would complete. I figure that any layout can always provide some sort of inspiration such as color combinations, photo placement or embellishment ideas. They have a section called “Scraphappenings” where they share newly released products or scrapbook tools.

Simple Scrapbooks. This is a magazine that really supports the scrapbooking approach that you do not need to scrapbook chronologically, rather you scrapbook the people and events that are most important to you. The layouts are usually simple (as the magazine title suggests) which provides great inspiration for beginning scrapbookers. Seasoned scrapbookers can of course also find inspiration from the layouts. They also have very enjoyable articles. I always read this magazine cover to cover.

Creating Keepsakes. CK and Memory Makers magazine both started ten years ago, so they are both experienced in delivering content that scrapbooks want to know. Creating Keepsakes layouts vary in level, but I would say that most of them are more advanced. They feature latest and greatest products, which includes new paper, tools and embellishments. They do present some of the most current new offerings which I think are fun to see. The articles are always very inspiring and encourage me to push to become an even better artist. This is another magazine that I read cover to cover every month.

Be sure to check out part two of this article where I share more of my favorite magazines and give information on getting YOUR work into the magazines.
