Festive Backgrounds

Christmas is coming; the geese are getting… put in the background.

Geese, swans, turtle doves, and poinsettias galore are featured on dozens of different seasonal scrapbook paper right now. As we countdown to December 25th scrapbook retailers around the globe are showcasing huge selections of holiday-themed paper.

My scrapbook supply shop is drowning in holiday paper. In addition, practically every major online scrapbook retailer is currently displaying mountains of new seasonal designs, including Collected Memories, which has an incredible collection of Christmas-themed paper featuring everything from snow-covered pine trees, holly, and mistletoe to Santa, wacky elves, and snowmen. Over at 123 Stitch, you can get festive foil and flat paper, as well as a sled full of Christmas-themed stickers, gems and stamps.

If your holiday budget doesn’t include room for fancy Christmas scrapbook paper, you could make your own. Simply recycle holiday wrapping paper. You can place pieces of the jolly patterned paper on your layout as background, borders or a frame. Another affordable option is to print your own Christmas-themed paper. Activity Village has a huge array of holiday paper. All you have to do is select the color and pattern you desire, download the paper and print it directly from your home computer. Getting your hands on holiday paper has never been so easy… or cheap. Activity Village is one of hundreds of websites that offer printable paper for free.

Going green will help you save green when it comes to seasonal scrapbook paper. Save all of those gorgeous Christmas cards that come in the mail and put them to good use in your layouts. You can cut out your favorite parts, be it a church, angel, Santa, Rudolph or Frosty, and then add the paper embellishments to a solid colored background to spice up boring scrapbook paper.
