What better way to reinforce the value and fun of reading than to read a fish story and then make a craft representing the story. Here are two fun fish books and crafts your child will enjoy.
Rainbow Fish
Read the story Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. Rainbow Fish is a beautiful fish that has many shiny scales. Rainbow Fish soon thinks he is better than all of the other fish in the sea. Because of this the other fish do not want him around. Rainbow Fish receives some advice and decides to share his shiny scales with the other fish. By the end of the book Rainbow Fish has only one shiny scale left. But he is happy. After sharing the story help your child make her own rainbow fish.
You will need:

Swimmy
Read the story Swimmy by Leo Lionni. Swimmy was the only fish in his school that wasn’t swallowed by a tuna. When he joins a new school of fish he devises a plan to camouflage the entire school from predators. After reading about Swimmy and his school of fish your child can create their own school of fish.

1 package yellow goldfish crackers
1 package colored goldfish crackers
