If you are a busy mom you know that finding time to exercise is not easy to come by. Now that my children are older, I have more time but I do recall those days when they were younger and how difficult it was to squeeze in.
Right now exercising in the morning is best for me. But that doesn’t work for everyone, especially moms who are oftentimes tending to children even before the crack of dawn. So don’t get too wrapped up in what time you exercise. As long as you get some exercise in, it really doesn’t matter what time of the day it is.
For some it may be during naptime, not yours, but your child’s naptime. Or it may have to be during the evening hours. Keep in mind that the day will come when your options will be much wider.
It’s also important to be realistic. It is not likely you are going to be able to exercise every single day, let alone five times a week. You may have to just shoot for 2 or 3 days. It may be not the ideal amount of time but it’s better than nothing. If you get too wrapped up in how many days you exercise, you will get discouraged and end up doing nothing.
Of course, with some creativity you can incorporate your role as a mom and exercise. Plop your child in the stroller (or better yet invest in a jogging stroller) and take a long walk. Install an attachment to the back of your bike so you can get in some exercise while taking your child on a ride.
You might even join a gym that offers childcare. There are ways to exercise yet still be a mom. And don’t feel guilty for taking that time to exercise. You are taking care of yourself and the more you do, the better mom you will be.
