Fitness Journal – Welcome Back from the Weekend

Welcome back to my personal fitness journal and I hope you had a great weekend. One of my primary goals is to demonstrate how you can incorporate fitness into your every day lifestyle whether you have kids, you work out of your house or you work in an office. You can do it whether you are male or female, married or single – all you need is the will to find the way that works for you.

I’ve discovered over the last couple of years that while working with a personal trainer was a powerful motivator for me, I had to find my own motivation after my personal trainer moved to another state. You may find after working with a personal trainer for a while, that no two personal trainers are the same and that you develop a relationship with each one you work with. You can’t just replace one with another.

Writing this blog has also been a source of inspiration. I’ve been able to explore different methods, styles and opportunities – all within the confines of this blog. I should mention, at this point, the really wonderful new diary started over in our Weight Loss blog called Mission: Possible. Valorie is right when she says you can achieve your weight loss goals without spending a small fortune or getting caught up in the latest fads (seriously, the side effects of Alli should be a huge deterrent to anyone!). So be sure to check it out if you haven’t already.

In the meanwhile, how’s my workout going today? It’s slow going – as it turns out I do have wisdom teeth troubles. I described some problems I was having a few weeks ago in My Face is Killing Me and that trouble kept coming back again and again. As it turns out, the cold that I had, the muscle spasms in my face and the pain were all related – impacted wisdom teeth that need to be extracted and a severe infection in a molar right next to it.

Anyone who has ever experienced dental pain may be familiar with how tough it is to focus on anything when you are in that much pain. My workouts are going to have to take into account the pain killers that have been prescribed so I’ll be sharing with you the process of hanging onto my fitness routines while I get ready for the extraction procedure and dealing with the infection in the meanwhile.

Over the weekend, I maintained a 20-minute regimen on the treadmill (it was way too hot outside since summer has finally arrived here in Texas) each day of the weekend. I wasn’t pushing myself – because right now it’s more important to just make sure I get the workout in because it’s harder to restart yourself after an extended absence than it was to get a workout going in the first place.
