Fitness Journal – Will The Rain Ever Stop?

It’s raining again – and again and again. Tonight Harry Potter opens and my husband and I want to catch the midnight showing so we can review it prior to letting our daughter see it. Today’s workout was more about focusing on meeting goals as needed than on doing something fun.

30 minutes on the treadmill resulted in just over 2 miles traveled and I’m right on target to maintain my 15 minute mile. I was worn out after the treadmill and skipped my weight training today. I wasn’t feeling well and you may remember that I mentioned my face was hurting a few weeks ago. Well, it seems to be hurting again – only this time it’s combined with not feeling well.

My husband seems to have a head cold and I have a feeling I am not far behind him. I have slowed down on posting my journals because when I am feeling fuzzy and foggy, it’s hard to write these. As a side note, for my walking:

I’m up to 5 times a week, a minimum of 20 minutes per session. My average 15 minute mile seems to be the norm and not the exception. This is great for my plans for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in October. It’s also important to remember that when you are feeling ill or down, you need to listen to your body. So I did as my body requested and I took it easy, took a nap when my daughter did and drank plenty of water.

Hydration and rest are both fundamental parts of overcoming illness. I will likely refrain from overdoing it tomorrow, as well – but my head is starting to pound and I’m worried that I am heading into migraine territory. I can only hope that resting will help the headache go away and I feel better.

Note: Due to illness and as it turns out — a wisdom tooth on strike — check back for the next fitness journal on Monday, July 16.
