Five Spiritual Gifts to Give Your Spouse for Christmas

The holiday season is a very hectic time for most families. In some ways the time can cause a bigger stress to a marriage instead of bringing the closeness that the true meaning of the holiday season would bring. Gift giving quickly focuses on the commercial rather than the spiritual aspects of Christmas. Here are five spiritual Christmas presents you may consider giving to your spouse.

1) One great gift is to give your spouse the opportunity to attend the temple. Ideally this would be done together, but it may difficult depending on your circumstances. If you live farther away from a temple you can schedule a sitter and include a gift certificate for a dinner out together. You can plan the event to take place sometime in January.

2) You may want to give the gift of new a set of scriptures. If you notice that your spouse’s scriptures are looking worn you may want to buy a new set. You can include your testimony in the scriptures. You may also want to mark a few of your spouse’s favorite scriptures. You may also consider giving the scriptures on CD.

3) One great gift is to have each of your children write down their testimonies of the gospel. Then you can assemble a book of the testimonies, along with a picture of each child. This will become a treasured keepsake as you watch your children grow and develop.

4) Another great gift is that of time. If you feel like your family is constantly everywhere, or that you are too busy to help with the family much, you may consider planning a family activity for your spouse. (This is an especially good gift for husbands to give their wives.) You can make elaborate plans or just have a simple day at home with every member of your family.

5) Another great gift is to give a religious book by a church member. This will give your spouse the chance to read something truly uplifting. It is best to match this gift to your spouse’s personality.
