Free Educational Opportunities

If one of your new years resolution is to improve your career or yourself, look into educational opportunities. If you know where to search, you find plenty of free or low cost classes, lectures and other educational opportunities. Check out the following opportunities. They may just change your life.

If you are currently employed outside of the home, you should have access to a wide range of educational opportunities thanks to your boss. Most companies have some sort of employer reimbursement for education, whether it is one class or an entire degree. In order to quality, the educational opportunity usually must relate somehow to your job. So while flower arranging may be fun, unless you work for a florist, you probably won’t get reimbursed. Present the opportunity to your boss or human resources office and show how your new skills would aid the company.

This next idea can be used whether you work outside of the home, or not. it is especially useful if you are thinking of reentering the workforce and need some new skills. Join a professional association or job in your field. There are professional associations for everything from writing to home organization. There generally is a fee for joining, but you’ll have the opportunity to network and attend professional seminars.
Your community is a treasure trove of educational opportunities. Libraries, schools and clubs often offer free or low cost classes and events for residents. You’ll find everything from business management to star gazing.

Free educational opportunities is another great reason to check out your local museum, zoo or botanical garden. If you have a membership, you may even get the classes for free. There are some great bits of new knowledge to be gained. Our membership is offering a lecture series that includes hands-on designing of tree houses in the spring season.
