Free Genealogy Events in Texas, California, and Indiana

cemetery Genealogy workshops, event, classes, and webinars can be fun. It makes it even nicer when these types of events are free to attend. Here are a few of the genealogy events that will be happening this week, and that won’t cost you any money if you wanted to check them out.

On September 4, 2012, The Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, which is located in San Angelo, Texas, will hold a meeting of the San Angelo Genealogical and Historical Society. The guest speaker will be James Hawkins, who is the director of public services for the Texas General Land Offices Archive and Records Program. He will discuss how genealogists can access records that they need in order to complete their research. This event is free, and is open to the public.

On September 6, 2012, the Family History Center, which is located in Monterey, California, will hold a meeting of the Monterey County Genealogical Society. The speaker will be Dayna Jacobs, who will present the topic “Free Websites for Your Genealogy Toolkit”. Everyone is welcome to come, and it is free to attend.

On September 9, 2012, the North Webster Community Public Library, which is located in North Webster, Indiana, will hold its sixth annual Cemetery Walk. It is open to the public, and free of charge. The walk will include a guided tour that features actors who are portraying some of the deceased persons who are buried in the cemetery.

On September 12, 2012, the Susi Q Community Center, which is located in Laguna Beach, California, will have a free genealogy workshop. Experienced researchers from the Patience Wright Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will provide the workshop. It is for beginning genealogists and those who are more advanced. It is free to attend the workshop. You need to make a reservation to attend.

On September 13, 2012, the Community Room of the Mission Trail Library, which is located in Wildomar, California, will hold a meeting of the Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society. It will be presented by genealogist Gena Philabert-Ortega. The topic is “I Love Libraries”. Visitors are welcome, and it is free to attend.
