Yeah, it’s “stuff”. What you get varies. They’re fan packs, stuff that the franchises send out to fans who ask. Sometimes it’s nothing more than a card or magnet, other times it’s photos and memorabilia. If you’re a real sports fan, anything from your team is worth it! Especially when all it will cost you is an email.
Here’s a sample one I sent to the Mariners.
Dear Mariners,
We love you when you’re up, and we love you when you’re in a rebuilding phase. Every member of the family is a fan, especially my 12 and 14 year old sons (Elisha and David). We got to see you several times last year, including the free t-shirt night (hooray! That was a great surprise!). We also loved doing the tour of the park with Bob, the very best tour guide! It would be fantastic if you could surprise the boys with a photo or fanpack as they gear up for next season.
Sincerely,
Me

and here’s their reply:
Thanks for your e-mail, Julie. We put two little fanpacks in the mail to you today that has some cards of past and present players, some fun facts and stickers and a poster of the ballpark; you should be receiving it shortly. Again, thanks for being a fan and we hope you get a chance to come visit us at Safeco Field sometime soon.
Go Mariners!

As always, please don’t abuse the freebies. Send requests only to those teams you’re a bona fide fan of; not for resale. That’s a sure way to get the franchises to stop sending out free things to their fans. Make sure to come back and let me know what they send you!
