Freezer Cooking: Getting Comfortable

Staying comfortable during your freezer cooking session is extremely important. You will more than likely be tempted to test taste some of the food, skip lunch because you aren’t aware of the time, not take enough breaks and just generally neglect yourself. But taking care of yourself is the only way to get through the day.

Shoes

It is important to wear extremely comfortable shoes on freezer cooking session day. You will be on your feet most of the time and you will want to be sure your feet have lots of support. This is not the day for bare feet, heels or uncomfortable shoes. A nice pair of running shoes is usually extremely supportive and works very well.

Clothing

Loose, comfortable clothes that can be layered or removed are perfect for a freezer cooking day. You are bound to get hot as your oven and stove top work their magic. You will want to wear something that can breath and hangs loosely. Also something you don’t care if you get spills on. It is a lot of cooking to do all at once and you are bound to get something on your clothes.

Water

You need to be sure that you are drinking lots of water to stay hydrated. Grab a water bottle in the morning and just refill with some ice and water throughout the day. Drinking lots of water will help you stay alert, focused, and not be hungry as you smell the cooking food. Plus, with all the heat in your kitchen it will help keep you properly hydrated.

Sitting

Do as much of the preparation work at your kitchen table sitting down. You will not have a lot of time to sit during the day, so when you can, sit! Also if you have a stool you can move over by the counter or stove top, use it. Take a break and get off your feet every half hour or so.

Breaks and Lunch

Be sure not to skip lunch. Try to eat your lunch at a time when things are cooking in the oven, giving you some time to sit and enjoy. Do not eat your lunch standing up or trying to cook, because you need this little break. Relax for lunch and you will be revived when you resume your session. Also be sure to take frequent breaks to just sit and clear your mind for a few minutes every hour or so.

If you follow these tips, you should have a fairly comfortable freezer cooking session.
