After I figured out which friends I wanted to include in my album, it was time to decide what I wanted to include on each page layout. The Queen of Journaling that I am, that was a bit more challenging because I tend to be on the wordy side. My album was only 6X6 so I knew I had to be careful or it wouldn’t fit.
I knew I wanted their name in nice bold letters all by itself, as if a title. I also decided I wanted to include a small statistics box that included where we met, when we met, how we met, and the length of time we’d been friends.
In addition to those two items, I wanted to include a personal letter to each girlfriend on my list detailing our friendship, the memories we’ve shared and telling what they taught me in life, or how their friendship impacted my life.
In retrospect this was where I first had the problem. The album being only a 6×6 was seriously stifling my creativity. There was much I wanted to say, a handful of friendship quotes I’d been collecting for this type of album, and not enough room to display it all without completely cluttering the layout.
The next step was choosing the photographs for the pages. I decided that I’d like to include one photo from when we first met, and one photograph from more recently. There were several problems with that. Some of those photos don’t exist. The other problem I had was that I had several photos I’d have liked to have included. Maybe I could kinda work them around the layout and get a few extras on the page.
That was a nice thought. Until I finished the first page. I got a bit carried away trying to include too many photos and I wound up with a terribly cluttered confusing page.
