Frugal Kitchen Tips

eggs Here is a fun collection of very creative tips that will help you save money in the most used room in your house. I don’t know about you, but the kitchen is a big area where we spend money. Most of the cash is on food, of course. Take a look below and tell me which ideas are your favorites.

It is a myth that you can’t freeze eggs. If you find them on sale or are lucky enough to be gifted from someone’s excess, take advantage of it and stock up. The secret to freezing eggs is to use an ice cube tray. Spray the tray with non-stick coating spray such as Pam or Bakers Joy. Next, break one egg into each compartment. Carefully transfer the tray to the freezer for an hour or until the eggs are frozen. Pop the eggs out of the tray, place them in a Ziploc or Glad (or other brand) freezer bag and place the eggs in the bag back in the freezer. Now, whenever you need an egg, just pop a cube out of the bag.

Do you have a freezer that doesn’t have a frost-free or self defrost feature? Don’t buy a new one just to upgrade. You can easily remove the built up frost if you know this trick. When the interior walls of the freezer are clean and dry, spray them with that non-stick cooking spray. The frost will still build up as usual, but when it comes time to remove it, it will just slide right off with very little effort. There! You just saved yourself a bundle. And if you don’t have a freezer, snatch a used one on Craigslist.or or freecycle.org from someone who is upgrading, now that you know the secret.
