Knowing when to shop for the best deals, is an important part of the frugal living lifestyle. Of course, circumstances can arrive that necessitate the need to purchase something at a less than frugal time. But the knowledge of when you can find the best deals, can often help save loads of money. If you know, in advance, that something around your home, is coming up on needing a replacement, shop for it during the proper month and you can save a lot of money!
After contacting several department stores, and working with a human resources manager of a large department store corporation, I was able to compile a month by month list of the best times to purchase different items. In a new series, focusing on frugal shopping, I will show you when the best time is to purchase items you need for your family.
Below is the inside scoop on the best time to purchase various clothing and accessories.
Spring Clothing – Start watching for spring clothing sales, to begin around the end of June.
Summer Clothing – These usually go on sale beginning around the end of August, beginning of September.
Fall Clothing – Get great fall clothing on sale beginning around the end of November.
Winter Clothing – Warm, winter clothing can be found for great bargains, beginning during the end of February.
For Women’s Clothing, it is strongly recommended to follow the seasonal sale times listed above, for the very best deals.
Men’s Clothing are usually best purchased in August, and December.
July, September, November and December seem to be the best months to purchase Children’s Clothing.
Bathing Suits are found during July and August, for the best deals. In fact, anytime after the fourth of July, a popular weekend for outdoor water activities, is a great time to purchase these summertime duds. The same holds true for beach and resort wear. You can usually find this on sale anytime after August.
Winter coats go on sale around March, and Men’s coats go on sale in January and August. Women’s and children’s coats go on sale much more frequently throughout the year – April, August, November and December are great months to find these discounts!
Formal Dresses for prom, homecoming, weddings, and other formal occasions, can typically be found on sale during January, April, June and November. While Men and Boy’s Suits are typically on sale during April, November and December.
January and July are a great time of year to find Hats and Purses on sale. Women’s hosiery goes on sale in March and October.
Lingerie can be found for the best price, during January, May and July.
The best prices for Shoes are found during January and July, with the exception of shoes for adults being best priced, also during November and December, and children’s shoes, being the best value during March as well.
And finally, night clothes, like Pajamas, nightgowns and Robes, are best purchased during April, May, June, October and November, shopping seasonally is best.
