Perhaps your budget doesn’t warrant a $5.00 window on stocking stuffers, and instead you need to keep your costs down further. That’s fine. There are dozens of ideas for cute stocking stuffers, and remember – check out the dollar store, because that is the first place you will find loads of great items.
In the meantime, here are a few ideas to get you started.
Samples – Free Samples and the smaller trial sized and sample sized bottles of lotions, shampoos, conditioners and other items are perfect for stocking stuffers. They are typically under $1.00 or even free.
Candy – A bag of candy can go far if you have several stockings to fill. If you purchased an extra bag at Halloween, use anything without a Halloween theme to fill up stockings. You can also get really large candy canes for under a dollar this time of year.
Scratch Off Lottery Tickets – What child doesn’t delight in grabbing a shiny quarter and scratching all the silver off of the lotto ticket. Of course they can’t actually “win” and the adult in their life will have to claim the prize, but if they do win a couple of dollars, let them spend it on what they want. Who knows, they could hold the winning ticket to a much larger jackpot too.
Pencils – You can usually purchase a fun variety pack of pencils. Open them up and drop a pencil or two in each stocking. Look for fun creative designs. We got each of our kids pencils with a “theme” this year – the theme being something they really like (my daughter got a .30 horse pencil, my son got a .30 dragon pencil, etc.) You can usually find these at party stores individually as well.
Snacks – Snacks are cheap and if you have several stockings to fill you can purchase a box and drop them in individually. You can do the same thing with hot cocoa. Buy a box and drop a packet in each stocking. They can enjoy a hot cup of cocoa (or coffee for the adults) while enjoying Christmas presents.
