One of the things I take very seriously every Christmas is filling those lonely dangling stockings to the hilt with practical, affordable yet fun, stocking stuffers. Typically I get started before December rolls around, whenever I see a bargain or discount or something that would suit perfectly for a stocking stuffer.
This year I didn’t get started until the first of December and thankfully, as of this writing, I have all stocking stuffers needed to fill all five children’s stockings this year. Hooray for being done early.
I thought I would pass on some creative, inexpensive stocking stuffer ideas to you, dear readers. In hopes that it will make the chore of finding things to fill the stocking just a little bit easier this year.
Gift Cards – I list this one first, because many people don’t think of it. You can $5.00 gift cards to all sorts of places, and they can buy what they want.
Gloves/Mittens/Ear Muffs – These can be found relatively cheap at discount chains. Drop a pair in a stocking and see the reaction as they excitedly try them on. Every kid loves a new pair of mittens.
Coin Purses/Wallets – Depending on where you are looking, you can often find cute coin purses and wallets for children at local discount chains and other places. Keep an eye on sale tables throughout the year, because if you plan ahead, you can get an expensive one for just a couple of dollars.
Paperback Book – A book is always a good gift. You can find books on sale at major book chains or shop at your local discount chain and pick up a new book as a stocking stuffer.
Toothbrush and Toothpaste – Each year we get our children a new toothbrush in their stocking. We try to get something fun and decorative, since the rest of the year when we throw them out and replace them we get traditional boring ones.
