Fun Fish

No ocean would be complete without some fish swimming around. So use these fun ideas to create your own fish. All of them are simple enough for young children to do.

Paper Plate Fish

You will need:
Paper plate
Markers or crayons
Scissors
Stapler

Directions:
1. Cut an equilateral triangle (all sides equal) out of a paper plate. This piece will become the fish’s tail. The hole you cut is the fish’s open mouth.
2. Staple the point of the triangle to the opposite side that you cut it out of.
3. Color the fish. Add scales and an eye. You could cut a triangle fin out of another paper plate and glue it to the side.

This craft was found at Enchanted Learning.

Bubble Wrap Fish

You will need:
Paint
Bubble wrap (unpopped)
Plate
Paper (I like to use finger paint paper)
Black Marker
Scissors

Directions:
1. Pour a small amount of paint onto a plate.
2.Tape two hand-sized pieces of bubble wrap together to make a mitt.
3. Have your child place the bubble wrap mitt on their hand and dip their hand in the paint.
4. Then they use their hand to make prints on the paper. The bubble wrap makes it look like scales.
5. After the paint has dried cut out a fish shape and draw an eye and mouth on with a marker.

Bubble Fish

You will need:
Dawn dishwashing liquid soap
Bucket
Water
Paper
Food coloring
Scissors
Straw
Wide-mouthed jar or cup
Markers or crayons

Directions:
1. Mix 1 cup of Dawn with 1 gallon of water in a large bucket.
2. Fill a jar or cup half full of the soapy water.
3. Add 3-4 drops of one color of food coloring.
4. Use a straw to stir the food coloring in. Then blow bubbles with the straw until bubbles rise above the rim of the jar.
5. Carefully place the paper on top of the jar. The bubbles will pop creating circles of color.
6. Repeat with the same color or different colors.
7. After the paper has dried cut out a fish shape and draw an eye and mouth on with a marker.
