Fun with Halloween Face Paint

Fortunately, you don’t have to be a Hollywood make-up artist to transform your kid from cute to creepy this Halloween. By using quality products and following a few simple steps your children can say goodbye to uncomfortable plastic masks and hello to an elaborately decorated face that will elicit a chorus of oohs and aahs from friends, family and neighbors.

One of the easiest face painting ideas for Halloween is Dracula. The popular vampire is known for his pale skin and bloody lips. However, you could spice up the look by creating a female vampire with long eyelashes and deep-purple eye shadow. If you are going for a more Gothic look, add some silver and gray hues around the eyes and temple. The key is to use a heavy-duty white face cream as the base, and then set it with translucent powder so the make-up lasts through the night. You could also use some red liquid lip liner to paint fake blood drops on the side of your child’s mouth.

Witches are another popular costume choice when you are working with make-up. Classic green face paint is good foundation, though you will need to embellish with fake wrinkles which can be created with dark eye shadow. Dark lipstick and moles can also be added for extra drama. If your child would prefer to be a good witch, then use pale white eye shadow, silver eyeliner, and glitter lipstick.

Finally, if you want to have a ton of fun making up your kid this Halloween, then opt to paint on a clown face. Start by applying heavy duty theatrical white face paint. Next, paint on some colorful triangles around the eyes and color the nose red. To embellish, color the cheekbones with rogue or paint on whimsical designs near the chin and hairline.
