Genealogy Gems released episode number 125 on January 29, 2012. This episode is called “Interview with Shirley Gage Hodges and Lisa’s New Newspaper Book”.

In this episode, Genealogist Shirley Gage Hodges shares her genealogical wisdom, and discusses her status as a “perpetual student”. Host Lisa Louise Cooke has a new book called “Everything You Need to Know About How to Find Your Family History in Newspapers”. It is available for pre-order. Other topics in this episode include email from listeners, and some genealogy news.

Family Tree Magazine released their January 2012 episode on January 24, 2012. This podcast is also hosted by Lisa Louise Cook. Topics in this episode include: tips on organizing your family archive, a discussion on using Evernote to stay organized, a sneak peek into the new season of “Who Do You Think You Are?”, and a trick that will help you make new friends in the genealogical community.

GeneaBloggers released a new episode on January 27, 2012. This episode is called “Walking Together On the Same Path: Slave and Slaveholder Descendants Collaborating”. The episode is hosted by Angela Walton-Raji, (from the African Roots Podcast).

Special guests include Bernice Bennett, (host of the “Research at the National Archives & Beyond” radio show), Betty McDade (researcher of Edgefield, South Carolina), and Toni Carrier (host of Lowcountry Africana website).

African Roots Podcast released episode 127 on January 27, 2012. Host Angela Walton-Raji notes that she will appear on the GeneaBloggers podcast that same day. She mentions several upcoming genealogy events, and a Genealogy Extravaganza!

NPR has an episode of “Weekend Edition Sunday” that was released on January 22, 2012. The episode is called “Mexican Cousins Keep Romney’s Family Tree Rooted”. This episode features discussions with some of Mitt Romney’s relatives, who live in Colonia Juarez in Mexico. It started as a colony of American Mormon’s who were practicing plural marriage.

FGS released a new episode on January 27, 2012. This episode is called “Email Marketing Solutions for Your Genealogy Organization”.

Host Thomas MacEntee speaks with guest Kathryn M. Doyle, of the California Genealogical Society and Library, in Oakland, California. She discusses many ways to effectively communicate through email with members and the community. The featured FGS member society this week is the California African American Genealogical Society.
